The final race for the Total Nonstop Racing League sponsored by Schue Lawn Service regular season before the LCQ and the start of the playoffs was at Richmond. Johnny Eckert once again flexed his short track mustle, dominating the race from the drop of the green-flag. Eckert started from the pole and led 103 of 110 laps on route to victory lane.

Series newcomer Chuck Sweeting was fastest in practice and got all the way up to 2nd after not taking a qualifying time. The seven laps not led by Eckert were all led by JD Laird. He, along with four other drivers stayed out during a caution midway through the race. Eckert was quickly able to work through the field, unlike most other drivers on the fresh tire strategy. Next Monday night, the drivers will have an unbroadcast last chance qualifier to make the playoffs at the LA Coliseum. TNR will return to WRN in two weeks with a race at Texas to begin the four race playoffs.
