Laird Dominates "The Rock" For 3rd Win of the Season

After a double-header at Daytona Superspeedway, the drivers of the TNR Grand National Series sponsored by Schue Lawn Service unloaded at the grassroots short track Rockingham for the FatalConcepts.com 150. Many teams brought fast cars to the racetrack, but none faster than JD Laird, who was dominant from the drop of the green flag all the way until the checkers were waved.

Laird began the race from the pole position, with Philip Scott to his outside. Laird quickly jumped out to a lead after Scott had to check up from getting a slightly early jump. From that point forward, Laird rarely had to look in his rearview mirror. Bill Edwards kept within a second of Laird during the first run to the stage, but fell back due to a speeding penalty during the pit stops while under the stage caution. From there, JD Laird set sail en route to victory. At times it looked as if Johnny Eckert might be able to keep pace with Laird, but Laird's car had too much long race pace for Eckert to maintain.

JD Laird led 146 of the 150 laps run in the FatalConcepts.com 150. Johnny Eckert and Robert Kenny both led two laps during the green flag pit cycle. Johnny Eckert finished in second and Bill Edwards rallied from his speeding penalty to finish third. Edwards used a great, short pit strategy to jump from the back half of the top 10 all the way to third; and he held it for the final 50 laps.

This race once again ran caution-free (except for the stage caution) a trend we have seen through many TNR races this season. Next Monday, the TNR Grand National Series sponsored by Schue Lawn Service will race at Homestead Miami Speedway for the C2 Graphics 150. TNR racing is live every Monday on WRN at 8:05 PM (EST).The action has been great every Monday night, make sure not to miss a second of it.
