Gracias Wins 4th Race of Season in Wild Southern National Race

Jason Gracias, self-proclaimed "trophy hunter" this season in the NSRA Beer Street Journal Grand National Series, picked up his 4th win of the season at Southern National. Gracias has won 4 races in his 7 starts in the 2022 season, leading 66 laps on his way to victory lane.

The race saw 9 cautions and some short track tempers flare. Philip Scott started the race from the pole, his 4th of the season. Scott lost the lead to Gracias on the race start, but would later reclaim the lead, only to spin on a restart and would not be able to reclaim the lost track position. Martin Plute and Trey Whited would battle for the race lead in the laps that would follow, but contact between Gracias and Plute on a restart caused many of the leaders, including Plute to wreck. Jason Gracias would fend off challenges from that point on, including a fight from Justin White in the Beer Street Journal last-call.

On top of Gracias' 66 laps lead, Trey Whitehead, Nathan Mowrer, Philip Scott, and Martin Plute all lead laps in the race that saw 132 laps run. There were nine lead changes in the race, matching the last short track race for the series (USA International).

Next week, the NSRA Beer Street Journal Grand National Series heads for iRacing Superspeedway for the CarCandy 110. This is a race we at the World Racing Network believe should be another highlight of the 2022 season and encourage all fans to make sure to watch live on WRN at 9 pm (est) Thursday, August 11.
