Pettet Wins the 2022 NSRA Beer Street Journal Grand National Series Championship

Coming into the final race of the 2022 NSRA Beer Street Journal Grand National Series unsure if he would even make the race. Making it in time for practice, Pettet started the race in 10th, but worked his way up through the field to a 2nd place finish and the series championship. The driver of the AnythingEC number 83 car showed the pace he has been known for through the whole season on route to his first series championship.

Adam Pettet celebrates his series championship post-race

Jason Gracias won the race, leading 50 of the 100 laps in the Beer Street Journal Season Finale. Adam Pettet, Nate Mowrer, Adam Newton, Ira Kohlhaas, and Steven Leschinsky all lead laps during the race. Adam Newton won his first pole of the 2022 season, Ira Kohlhaas also tied a season best start of 2nd place.

Coming into Las Vegas, four drivers had the chance to win the championship. Adam Pettet, the points leader, held a 29 point lead over Nate Mowrer, Philip Scott was 34 points back, and Trey Whitehead came into Vegas 84 points behind Pettet. The first three finished 2nd through 4th in the race, while Whitehead rallied after early struggles to a 10th place finish. Early on, it looked as though Nate Mowrer or Philip Scott might have a good chance at wining the championship. Pettet struggled for speed in practice, qualifying, and early in the race. As we have seen throughout the season, however, Pettet quickly turned it around and charged to the front.

The 2023 NSRA Grand National Series is currently slated to start January 5, 2023. More updates on the schedule, points format, and more will be released on WRN's social media.
