Nate Mowrer Gets Third Win in a Row in Playoff Opener

Nate Mowrer continued his dominant streak in the NSRA Beer Street Journal Grand National Series with his fourth win of the season, and third win in a row, in the first playoff race at Pocono. Mowrer picked up the regular season championship the week before and came into the playoffs second, five points back of Adam Pettet. With his latest win, Mowrer ties Adam Pettet and Jason Gracias for the most wins of the season.

Mowrer also led 46 of the 55 laps in the race. Adam Pettet picked up 4 laps led, Trey Whitehead started on pole and lead 2 laps, as did Dominic Tesoro. Doug Neal also picked up a lap lead off a staying out an extra lap during a green-flag pit cycle.

Adam Newton, though not leading any laps, had an impressive outing in his second start in the NSRA Beer Street Journal Grand National Series. The Simbox Motorsports driver moved from a 15th place starting position to come home 3rd. Adam Pettet had a good rebound from a string of bad races to finish in 2nd and challenged for the race lead all night long, showing the rest of the field the 83 is ready to race for a championship.

Next Thursday night at 9 pm (est), the NSRA Beer Street Journal Grand National Series is headed for the only road course on their 2022 schedule, Watkins Glenn. This road course is likely to shake up the playoff points and could see a lot of dark horses running at the front of the pack.
