Nate Mowrer Grabs the Win at Iowa

He becomes the 4th different driver to pick up a win in the 4 races so far. Mowrer led the most laps of the race, 67, on his way to victory lane. He jumps to 2nd in points, only 9 points behind Adam Pettet for the overall points lead.

Nate Mowrer Leads the Field to the White Flag

Adam Pettet, who came into the race at Iowa off a strong 2nd place finish at Rockingham, won the pole in qualifying, his 2nd of the season. However, it was the 92 of Julian Tesoro who would grab the lead on lap 1. Tesoro would go on to lead the opening 56 laps of the race, his first laps led of the season. He would be passed by Philip Scott, who came in off winning Rockingham. He would go on to lead 5 laps before pitting during a scheduled green-flag stop.

This is when the race got turned on its head. A caution came out in the middle of the green-flag pit cycle, causing many who had already pitted to lose significant track position. Nate Mowrer inherited the race lead off of this caution and wouldn't look back until the end of the race. Through a series of cautions, Mowrer would show the speed in the Simbox Racing 971 machine, keeping his car out front.

A late race incident brought out a yellow and put the race into a Beer Street Journal last call. Mowrer retained the lead with, according to Mowrer in an interview the best car on track, Philip Scott restarting in 2nd. It looked like Mowrer would drive away, but he got very loose out of turn 2, opening the door for the 99 of Scott. Just as the 99 was looking to complete the pass, a caution came out, letting Mowrer retain the lead for another Beer Street Journal last call.

This restart went more in favor of the 971 who drove out to his first win on the season. This puts him on the list with Mike Tellier, Adam Pettet, and Philip Scott of drivers so far this season with wins. Conveniently, they also make of 4 out of the top 5 in points.

The next race will be at the 1.5 mile Kansas Speedway. Adam Pettit will go into that race the points leader and the only driver to win on a mile and a half so far this season. There are many drivers to watch though, as this season has been very competitive, with so many names to keep an eye on. The race will be live once again at 8:25 pm (est) on the World Racing Network.
